MITSUBISHI 500 KWIECIEŃ 1960
This is the first mass-produced four-wheel sedan made by Mitsubishi Motors after the Second World War in response to øthe National Car Program" set by the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Mitsubishi Motors introduced the Mitsubishi 500 in 1960 by exploiting all technical means to design and develop small and reliable yet low-priced family cars. Mitsubishi Motors pursued simplicity and rationality in designing the Mitsubishi 500 and set its price to \390,000 at that time. The Mitsubishi 500 also became the first model to be tested in a wind tunnel in Japan. For drive system, rear-engine/rear-drive was adopted. The Mitsubishi 500 had four-wheel independent suspension, which enabled four wheels to move smoothly and steadily even on bad roads in Japan, and solid monocoque chassis construction, which enabled to seat 4. In 1962, Mitsubishi 500 made its world debut in the international motor sport at the Macau Grand Prix where three Mitsubishi 500s occupied from the first to the third rank in the category of Class A (less than 750cc).
Jest to pierwszy produkowany po II wojnie światowej przez Mitsubishi Motors na masową skalę czterokołowy sedan. Zaprojektowano go w odpowiedzi na National Car Program Japońskiego Ministerstwa Handlu Zagranicznego i Przemysłu. Mitsubishi Motors przedstawiło Mitsubishi 500 w roku 1960 przy wykorzystaniu całego potencjału technicznego aby zaprojektować i stworzyć mały i niezawodny samochód rodzinny o niskiej cenie. W roku 1962 Mitsubishi 500 miało swoją światową premierę w sportach samochodowych na Macau Grand Prix gdzie 3 Mitsubishi 500 zajęły trzy pierwsze miejsca w Clasie A - do 750cc.

Based on the "Mitsubishi 500" with changes to the shape of front/rear body, the Colt 600 made debut in 1962, which was the first Mitsubishi car to bear the name of "Colt". Without changing the economical efficiency of the Mitsubishi 500, Mitsubishi Motors transformed the500 into a light sporty five-seat compact car by making its engine, column shift, and bench seat more powerful and widening its trunk space. These changes improved Mitsubishi Motors' brand power. In the same year, Mitsubishi Motors exhibited a ruby red convertible Colt 600 as reference and gained popularity at the 9th Tokyo Motor Show, but it was not available for sale. A ruby red exhibit car shown in the left was a convertible rebuilt in 1991, which mounted a Colt 600 (RR) body on a chassis of a recent MINICA (FF)
